Deposit Anywhere™


Depositing cheques is a snap.  With Deposit Anywhere, you can quickly and securely deposit cheques with your smartphone or tablet from anywhere, day or night.  So whether you're at coffee with friends, at work, or staying up late to get your banking done - any time is the right time to deposit cheques.


Here's how it works:

  1. Open your Edam Credit Union Mobile Banking App on your smartphone

  2. Choose the Deposit icon

  3. Select the account the cheque will be deposited to

  4. Enter the amount of the cheque

  5. Write For Deposit To: and your account number on the back of the cheque

  6. Snap a photo of the front and back of your cheque

  7. Confirm the details and tap submit.  That's it!


After you have confirmed your deposit, write "Deposited via Mobile" across the front or the back

of the cheque, without obscuring the cheque, as a reminder that it has been done. 

Put the cheque in a secure location in case the original is required for any reason. 

Keep the item for a minimum of 90 days and destroy it within 120 days.


Note: Cheques must be payable in Canadian dollars and drawn at any Canadian finacial institution.

 They must be payable to, and endorsed by the account holder.

Free, Fast and Secure.

Deposit Anywhere is a free service and just as secure as depositing your cheque at a branch.  Plus, it's fast.  Most people complete their deposit in less than a minute and can do it from anywhere and at anytime.


Please Note:  A 5 day hold will be placed on funds deposited.  Consequently, funds deposited will not be available until the holds are released.  If you require immediate access to funds you have deposited contact our office to discuss your options.


When using Deposit Anywhere to deposit cheques, the funds will always appear in your account immediately if you have completed the process successfully. However, if you complete the process after 7:00 pm, your deposit will not be effective until the following day.


Result: Your balance will reflect the deposit immediately, however if you use any of those funds before the next day, you will be charged overdraft interest for one day because the deposit is not actually effective until the following day.

Why does this happen?

Newer Android phones have a home button that is just on the screen and is not a physical button. The home button overlays right over top of the camera button on deposit anywhere, so when you try to take a picture of a cheque, you end up pressing the home button instead, taking you back to the home screen.

What can be done to get Deposit Anywhere back to normal?

You can change your phone’s settings to turn off the home button to replace the home, back, and show all buttons with “Gestures”. Gestures is swiping away apps with a touch to minimize apps or return home instead of using buttons. If you are working with a Samsung phone the steps are:

- Go to the phone’s settings;

- Go to Display;

- Go to Navigation bar;

- Select Full Screen Gestures.

- You can now swipe up from the bottom of the screen on the left-hand side to go back, middle of the screen to go home, right-hand side of the screen to show all minimized apps.

Google Pixel phone:

- Go to the phone’s settings;

- Go to System;

- Go to Gestures;

- Go to System Navigation;

- Turn on Gesture Navigation.

- You can now swipe up to minimize the active app or return to the home screen.

How does this change the use of your phone:


- Your deposit anywhere will work as normal;

- You will instead need to swipe on your screens instead of using back, home, and show all buttons.
